Jared Berenter is a Program Cycle Management Specialist at USAID/El Salvador Regional Program Office. In this role, he manages and advises on monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) processes to facilitate organizational capacity building, evidence-based decision-making, and adaptive management.

Jared’s prior experience includes advisory and implementation capacities with USAID/Pakistan; USAID Bureau for Economic Growth, Education and Environment (E3); US State Department Bureau for Near Eastern Affairs; the International Center for Tropical Agriculture; and the Strauss Center for International Security and Law. He has subject-matter expertise in stabilization programming and the use of geospatial data for disaster response and environmental management, with a strong focus on non-permissive and post-conflict environments. Jared holds M.A.s from the University of Texas at Austin in Global Policy Studies and Latin American Studies, with a specialization in International Energy, Environment, and Technology, and a B.A. in Government from Georgetown University.

Jared has a passion for social science research and the challenges that it poses. He believes this work uniquely balances his humanitarian values with his desire to see and understand the world. He also believes that foreign aid serves an important foreign policy function. Jared hopes that by fusing good practice, humanitarianism, and real understanding of what motivates people and societies, we can see foreign aid succeed.
