Kyla serves as an Associate for Environmental Incentives, providing monitoring and evaluation, operational, and administrative support to the International Practice Area. Her work spans the USAID Measuring Impact II project, cross-mission learning frameworks, and the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Environment Support Mechanism. Kyla has a background in conservation ecology and project management and experience using the Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation.

Prior to joining Environmental Incentives, Kyla conducted a preliminary evaluation of the Rwandan Government’s forest monitoring information system with the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the World Resources Institute. The evaluation provided key recommendations to upgrade and operationalization the system. Additionally, Kyla has worked with a team from the International Crane Foundation (ICF) and Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) to draft a conservation management plan. The plan promoted conservation practices to secure quality habitat for the three indigenous crane species within the Drakensberg key catchment area of South Africa. The conservation management plan brought forth new ideas and re-imagined ICF and EWT’s existing conservation plan to align with the Open Standards.

Kyla believes in fostering collaborative partnerships and strengthening the rights of local communities to support science-based conservation outcomes that ultimately improve ecosystem health and sustainably advance human wellbeing.
