In her role as Associate, Laurel has supported USAID’s Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Bureau and Missions in the region to research relevant regional trends, design evidence-based programming, and facilitate skills-building workshops supporting USAID staff. Through her work with the LAC Environmental Support Services Contract, Laurel has cultivated trusting client relationships, coordinated external and internal team members, managed budgets, led product planning processes, and facilitated strategic planning and design. Outside of her project work, she also leads EI’s internal systems mapping initiative, working to promote understanding, collaboration, and learning around systems maps, approaches, and thinking.

Before joining EI, Laurel worked as a climate organizer on state campaigns in the U.S., as a Peace Corps agroforestry volunteer in Senegal, and with a community gardens organization in upstate New York. She brings this experience with community connection and problem solving to her current role at EI. Laurel is also proficient in French, Spanish, and Wolof, with experience in Arabic.

Laurel is passionate about cross-sectoral climate integration and finding ways to connect people with their natural environment.
