Lauren Guthrie is the Communications Coordinator for USAID’s Amazon Regional Environment Program (AREP) under the Latin America and Caribbean Environment Support Services Contract. She brings experience in cross-cultural communication and program support to her role at Environmental Incentives.

Lauren supports communications between USAID, implementing partners, and EI as well as within the AREP team. Before joining EI, Lauren worked as a Foreign Service Officer for the United States Department of State, serving in the consular sections in El Salvador and Ecuador. She engaged with the local population to improve transparency and communications between the host country and U.S. government and supported research projects to improve knowledge sharing within the department. Lauren also worked for a startup technology platform for advancing women, bringing in dynamic speakers and driving strategic growth.

With a background in economics and considerable multicultural experience, Lauren believes the path to environmental improvement is through incentive-driven and collaborative solutions. She values working with diverse teams and a broad range of backgrounds and perspectives.
