Lindsey Spanner is a Communications Associate for the Latin America and Caribbean Environmental Support Services Contract (LAC ESSC), assisting USAID’s Amazon Regional Environment Program (AREP). She brings experience in international development communication and expertise in translating technical concepts into engaging products. At EI, she helps facilitate better communication and coordination between AREP activities in the Amazon region and the communities where they work. In addition to her interests in Latin America and Indigenous rights, her professional background includes nearly six years working in strategic communications, outreach, and knowledge management.
Before joining EI, Lindsey served as the Senior Communications Coordinator at Banyan Global. In this role, she managed external corporate communications channels, including print, digital, and social media; served on the business development team; and provided communications support to several USAID-funded projects. This support included serving as a communications specialist on a global health supply chain program in South Africa and a global women’s economic empowerment activity.
Lindsey believes communication is key to a better world. Through storytelling, she hopes to connect people from different cultures and contexts so they can discover their similarities and commit to common goals of tackling some of the world’s biggest development challenges, such as inequality and climate change.
