Sarah Schmidt is Chief of Party for USAID’s Building Evidence for Decision-Making (BE4D) project. This ten-year project, housed within the Bureau for Inclusive Growth, Partnerships, and Innovation (IPI) at USAID, is designed to incentivize evidence generation and use for decision making across USAID operating units and global Missions. Previous to this, Sarah was EI’s Director for Latin America and Caribbean Portfolio, and provided leadership and oversight to USAID programming in the region, while ensuring cross company collaboration, learning, and adapting to achieve effective results and engage staff.

Sarah is a recognized leader in process facilitation, adaptive management, and organizational learning, with more than 20 years of progressive management and leadership experience. Prior to joining EI, Sarah was the Chief of Party for the USAID LEARN contract which focused on organizational uptake of adaptive management and learning practices at USAID. Over the course of her career to date, she has worked with agencies across the development sector, including Management Sciences for Health (MSH), Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and Peace Corps.
