EI Joins LINC on USAID’s Resilience Platform in Ethiopia

We are pleased to share that Environmental Incentives will be joining LINC as a major subcontractor on the five-year USAID Resilience Platform for Ethiopia (R-PAL). The LINC Consortium will support USAID/Ethiopia and local partners to co-create an adaptive model for households and communities to better navigate pathways from vulnerability to resilience. Through R-PAL, the team will deliver a strategic learning, innovation, and collaboration platform to support USAID’s Transitioning into Graduation through Enhance Resilience (TIGER) Project portfolio in Ethiopia’s highlands.

EI will provide leadership on the collaboration, learning, and adapting (CLA), knowledge management, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning components of R-PAL. Through this work our team will:

  • Deliver technical assistance in CLA and adaptive management
  • Develop targeted communications strategies and materials and effective means for knowledge management and sharing
  • Facilitate, train, coach, and mentor implementing partners, government staff, and local stakeholders in CLA and evidence-informed adaptive management

EI is delighted to have the opportunity to build on our experience partnering with USAID to facilitate CLA approaches and co-create solutions to Ethiopia’s complex development challenges. As experts in CLA, adaptive management, local capacity development, and communications, EI will support the integration of evidence-based program iteration to improve resilience. From 2016 – 2021 EI and LINC successfully partnered with USAID to implement the Sustainable WASH Systems Learning Partnership, including supporting a pilot activity in Ethiopia’s water sector.

“Effective collaboration, learning, and adaptive management are essential to helping Ethiopians meet escalating and compounding challenges. R-PAL meets this need, with a focus on locally led, evidence-informed development. We are thrilled to join LINC and USAID on this project to bolster resilience in Ethiopia,” said Kathleen Flower, Director of EI’s Africa Portfolio.
